NORTH WEST - SOUTH AFRICAN POLICE SERVICES HOSTED THE 9TH EXCELLENCE AWARDS TO HONOR HARD WORKING, SELFLESS MEN AND WOMEN IN BLUE

The South African Police Service Annual excellence awards was held in Sun City, Rustenburg recently, to celebrates and honour men and women in blue who went

beyond the call of duty and portrayed excellent policing skills by rendering sterling service delivery to our community at all material times.

The historical and significant occasion was graced by the presence of the Honorable Premier of the North West Professor Job Mokgoro, MEC for Community Safety and Transport Management Honorable Sello Lehari, Head of Department Ms Botlhale Mofokeng and North West Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Baile
Motswenyane. Provincial Commissioners from the following provinces were also present Mpumalanga - Lieutenant General BM Zuma, Northern Cape - Lieutenant General RP Shivuri, Free State - Lieutenant General MD Sempe , Gauteng - Lieutenant General E Mawela while KwaZulu Natal and Eastern Cape send high level delegation Major General Gadebe and Major General Swart respectively.

Lieutenant General Baile Motswenayne in her capacity as Provincial Commissioner while delivering her welcome address extended her warm and kind welcome to all in attendance of excellence awards ceremony.

MEC Lehari wholeheartedly thanked the police officers who over the course of time worked tirelessly to serve and protect the citizens of the province in particular and the entire country in general. "Being in the police services requires dedication, commitment, resilient, professionalism, high level of self-discipline, integrity that is beyond reproach and the ability to think strategically when approaching any challenges in your line of duty" Said MEC. He further recognized and appreciated the premier for making time to share his wealth of knowledge and talk to the hard working police officers who have earned their rightful place to be amongst SAPS brightest stars that will never cease to shine.

The North West Province Premier, Professor Job Mokgoro in his keynote address acknowledged that as predominantly Christian orientated society, we know that God is watching over us, shared his lessons gained over the 18 months since he took over the realms of running the state machinery and with all its interlinking institutions. Being a volatile province with instability prone area, the police services remains a beacon of hope and always get more strength every time he speaks to the police and get to understand that our hard earned 25 years of freedom is jealously guarded by the hard working women and men who makes our lives safer on the daily basis. The Premier congratulated all the prestigious awards recipients and in the same breath sincerely thanked the outgoing Provincial Commissioner Lt. Gen Baile Motswenyane for her sterling work and wish her well in her future endeavors and warmly welcomed the incoming incumbent Lieutenant General Kwena and told him that he has big shoes to fill.

There following categories were awarded: Groundsman/Cleaner, Administration, Visible Policing , Detective, Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offenses Unit, Criminal Record and Crime Scene Management, Crime Intelligence group, Operational Response Services group, Technology Management group Employee of the year and the high lights of the evening was Special recognition awards by Premier, MEC and Provincial Commissioner. The overall winner scooped by Station Commander of Rustenburg Police Station, Brigadier GN Modise.
